John Cadbury Biography
Hi guys today as you might already of seen I will be making a biography about John Cadbury. In school we are still learning about The Victorians and John Cadbury was the inventor I was given by my teacher to research.
John Cadbury was born in Birmingham on the 12 of August 1802. In 1824 he first opened a grocer's shop at 93 Bull Street where he sold drinking chocolate and cocoa. By this time tea, coffee, cocoa and drinking chocolate where thought to of been healthier and yet still delicious unlike alcohol which to some was delicious but an unhealthier choice of food and drinks. He was the first person to ever create chocolate bars and now his company is the second largest candy and chocolate company in the world and I believe the first candy and chocolate company in the world is Mars. By 1842 Cadbury was selling no less than 16 different varieties of drinking chocolate and 11 varieties of cocoa and in 1847 the Cadbury brothers' booming business moved into a new large factory in Bridge Street in the centre of Birmingham. Eventually he retired and let his two sons continue to run the business. In 1854 him and his brother where given there first official warrant by Queen Victoria which meant they were the official chocolate and cocoa makers for the Queen. In 1875 the company produced there first chocolate eggs with sugar coated chocolate pieces. Sadly he died in 1889 and was buried in Birmingham.
Today you may best know Cadburys for making chocolate bars such as Wispa, Dairy Milk, Cadbury Creme Eggs, Twirls, Crunchies, Double Deckers and many more. Are any of these a favourite of yours? Do you like Cadbury chocolate? I would love to hear what peoples favourites are, please leave a comment below so I can see.
I hope you enjoyed this piece of work and please go and check out my other pieces of work.
Yours sincerely The Rilster.
