Who invented the light bulb - My school half term project
Thomas Alva Edison was a famous American inventor who was born in 1847. He is best known for inventing the domestic lightbulb that goes in houses and the electric power system that allows them to work, this was invented in the year 1878 ( in fact he didn’t invent the first lightbulb, that had happened over 50 years before Edison was doing his inventing).
The domestic light bulb is used to produce light and was made to last more than thirteen hours because that is the time a light would last before the domestic light bulb was invented. It would be used inside houses and would give off enough light to light up the entire room so for one house you would only need a max of 4 to 5 light bulbs and your house would be lit up when they were activated . Without a light the world would be so dark it would be almost impossible to see, the only light would be from the sun and moon. Edison later invented the entire electric utility system to deliver light to homes through a network of wires. In October 1878 he started his own company called the Edison electric light company where he would sell light bulbs to people and from there on out the world was never the same again.
